MEET THE FARMER - STRONGS ORGANICS

Whilst this business is only 7 Years old, the story of Strong Organics has roots in the very earliest European settlements of the Shoalhaven. The Strong family originated from Ireland and brought with them the tradition of farming. 

 The tradition of working the land has been handed down from generation to generation and now on the Shoalhaven floodplains at Terara, just east of Nowra, Strong Organics has developed a foothold in this niche but growing market, supplying vegetables of the highest quality to many local restaurants, speciality retail outlets, grower’s markets and consumers who recognise and appreciate the very best in produce. To be certified as organic, the business practices and policies undergo a rigorous and regular certification process. 

 Neville Strong, or Nev as he is affectionately known, has been growing, and supplying produce for his family and customers, since he was twelve. 

His love of ‘working the land’ resulted in Nev following his heart and qualifying as a horticulturist. 

Over the years Nev has continued his love of growing, whether it is vegetables or garden plants, and more recently following a change of direction in life, Nev and his lovely and very supportive wife Chanel commenced Strong Organics at their home at Falls Creek. 

When their eldest son Josh and partner Cody moved back to the Shoalhaven, he was given the opportunity to lease very productive acreage on the rich floodplains at Terara, and Strong Organics grew into a very productive business. 

Josh and Cody have since followed their dream north, and Nev and Chanel have continued to develop the business with assistance from their other son Sam, his wife Jess and family.  

This style of farming requires grit and stickability, it is not for the faint hearted. Nev is an exceptionally hard worker and very ‘hands on’ and that is his guiding belief. 

The philosophy of Strong Organics is to provide good quality organic produce locally. Understanding that the community is becoming very aware of the value of “food miles” (distance from paddock to plate) and that great produce will always find a market.
